{"id":631,"date":"2016-06-16T14:48:59","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T12:48:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/meta-e2f.eu\/?p=631&#038;lang=en"},"modified":"2017-05-27T17:36:49","modified_gmt":"2017-05-27T15:36:49","slug":"hotmelt-what-is-it-and-what-does-it-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/meta-e2f.eu\/en\/2016\/06\/16\/hotmelt-what-is-it-and-what-does-it-do\/","title":{"rendered":"HOTMELT \u2013 What is it and what does it do?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the years, we have closely followed the development trends in the protection of sensitive electronic components and devices against environmental conditions and effects.<\/p>\n<p>Two-component potting with polyurethane or epoxy resin has been used successfully for decades.<\/p>\n<p>This method enhances heat dissipation, insulation, moisture protection and mechanical resistance.<\/p>\n<p>However, potting has several drawbacks: it is time-consuming, requires the use of \u201cpots\u201d (i.e. cases, shells, housings) and involves processing of hazardous substances in the production of potting compounds.<\/p>\n<p>Hotmelt molding at low injection pressure using polyamide-based pellets provides less heat dissipation compared to potting compounds and a somewhat reduced mechanical resistance than a conventional housing, but it offers convincing benefits such as fast and easy processing and excellent environmental compatibility.<\/p>\n<p>Electronic modules completely encapsulated with hotmelt have been available to our customers since March 2016.
